Used Basket Centrifuges

Basket centrifuges separate solids from liquids using a rotating perforated or solid bowl. Material is fed into the spinning basket, where centrifugal force drives liquid through the filter media while solids accumulate as a cake on the basket wall. A plow or scraper then discharges the solids for collection or further processing.

Federal Equipment Company stocks used basket centrifuges from manufacturers including Rousselet Robatel, Sharples, KraussMaffei, DeLaval, Western States, Sanborn, and Ketema. Our inventory includes perforated basket designs for filtration applications and solid bowl clarifiers for liquid-liquid separation. Basket diameters range from 300mm (12") to 60", with both manual and automatic discharge configurations.

Basket centrifuges operate in batch mode, processing a fixed volume of slurry per cycle. The process begins when feed material enters the rotating basket. Centrifugal force separates the phases based on density differences. In perforated basket designs, liquid passes through the filter media and basket perforations while solids build up on the basket wall. Once the liquid has been removed and the cake washed if required, a plow mechanism scrapes the solids from the basket wall for discharge through a bottom outlet or over the basket rim.

Key components include the basket assembly, the suspension system, the drive mechanism, and the discharge system. Suspension designs include three-point link and tripod configurations that isolate vibration from the surrounding structure. Drive options include hydraulic variable-speed systems, belt drives, and direct motor drives. Discharge mechanisms range from manual plows to fully automatic dual-action plow assemblies with programmable cycle control.

Federal Equipment Company stocks basket centrifuges from manufacturers including Rousselet Robatel, Sharples, KraussMaffei, DeLaval, Western States, Sanborn, and Ketema. Our inventory spans from pilot-scale units to full-production machines. We offer inspection, refurbishment, and testing services to verify equipment condition before delivery.

Why Buy Used Basket Centrifuges

Used basket centrifuges offer significant cost advantages compared to new equipment. Savings typically range from 40% to 70% off new equipment pricing, depending on age, condition, and configuration. Lead times for used equipment are measured in days or weeks rather than the months often required for new basket centrifuge orders.

Federal Equipment Company inspects all basket centrifuges for basket condition, suspension integrity, drive system function, and control operation. We can provide refurbishment services, including basket repair or replacement, seal rebuilding, hydraulic system overhaul, and control system upgrades. Testing services verify cycle performance before shipment.
